Overview Beijing is the capital city of the People's Republic of China and this is also one of the most populous cities in the world. The city is also home to most of the headquarters of China's largest state-owned companies. This is China's educational, cultural and political center. Beijing has 14 urban and suburban districts and 2 rural counties. This city is also one of the 4 Great Ancient Capitals of China. Beijing is the center China's history over the past centuries. Almost all the buildings found in this city has its own historical significance for China.
Population As of 2010 Beijing has a population of 19,612,368.
Airport The primary airport in Beijing is the Beijing Capital International Airport which is located 20 kilometers or 12 miles northeast of the city center. This is the busiest airport in Asia and the second busiest in the world next to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The airport has now 3 terminals and Terminal 3 is one of the largest terminal in the world. Most of the domestic flights and some of the international flights arrive and depart from the Capital Airport. The Liangxiang, Nanyuan, Xijiao, Shahe and Badaling are the other airports in Beijing, these are solely used for military purposes and is not known to the public.
Climate The climate in the city is rather dry and it is influenced by the monsoon humid continental climate. The city experiences hot, humid summers and cold, windy and dry winters. Sandstorms coming from the Mongolian steppe is often during the spring and during the autumn there is little rain. The average temperature in January -3.7 degrees Celcius or 25.3 degrees Fahrenheit. In July the average temperature is 26.2 degrees Celcius or 79.2 degrees Fahrenheit.
Best Season The best time to visit Beijing is in September to October when the weather during the day is warm, dry and sunny.
Transportation Beijing is one of the most important transport hub in the People's Republic of China. The city is surrounded with nine expressways, five ring roads, eleven National China highways, and several railways.

Cons The air pollution in Beijing is a critical problem since smog (smoke and fog) is present in the city. This can cause respiratory illnesses. However, China wanted to bring back the good quality of air in the city and has developed ways to prevent air pollution from worsening.Sandstorms are another problem in the city. People would usually experience sandstorms during the spring.
